What should you not do before a lip tattoo?

If you’ve ever had a cold sore in your life, you will be forced to take an anti-viral medication that your doctor has recommended as a necessary precaution (i.e. Valtrex). Stress or damage to the lips or skin may lead to cold sore breakouts, which can affect the healing process. Therefore, if you do not take an anti-viral drug beforehand, lip blush will probably result in an outbreak if you are a carrier. The dosage has to be taken for a total of five days (2 days prior to procedure, 1 day-of, and 2 days post-procedure).

This regulation has absolutely NO exceptions! Every time you have a lip tattoo, this rule applies. Antiviral medicine examples include Zovirax, Famvir, and Valtrex. To get antiviral medication with a prescription strength, get in touch with your doctor. They will need to call your prescription in for you to pick up at your pharmacy after you inform them that you’ve decided to have a permanent cosmetic tattoo applied to your lips.

Lips’ Pre-Care

If you’ve ever had cold sores, start your antiviral medication two days before the procedure.

48 hours before the surgery, avoid working out.

48 hours prior to the procedure, NO ALCOHOL, CAFFEINE, OR STIMULANTS (YES, DECAF COFFEE AND TEA CONTAIN CAFFEINE!).

One week before the procedure, avoid the sun and tanning beds.

48 hours before to the surgery, avoid taking aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, or Advil/ibuprofen.

For at least 48 hours before the procedure, stay away from fish oil, primrose oil, prenatal vitamins, nutritional shakes (like Shakeology), and “Hair, Skin, Nail” supplements.

Retin-A and Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) should be stopped at least six weeks in advance.

After lip fillers, you must wait at least 6 months, and after touch-ups, 6 weeks. Lips that have recently received injections within the past 6–12 months may not retain colour well.

The week before your appointment, exfoliate (with a sugar scrub) and hydrate (with Aquaphor or Vaseline) your lips.

During the week leading up to your procedure, drink plenty of water.

Prior to scheduling a lip tattoo procedure, it is crucial to wait at least six months after receiving lip implants and get written approval from your surgeon.

* Important Information: During your menstrual cycle, you will be more sensitive.

THE AFTERCARE OF LIPS

*Lips may feel tight, dry, chapped, and painful to the touch right after the procedure.

Complete your antiviral treatment if necessary to stop an outbreak.

Lip ointment should be applied several times per day. Following treatment, this should be continued for at least 10 days. Keep your lips from drying out. This might affect how coloured wounds heal. Apply a little coating of ointment to your lips if they feel dry throughout the day. Do not massage it in; instead, dab or push it over the skin.

Although itching is common, DO NOT PICK!

No chemicals, creams, or soaps should be applied on the lips. For ten days, gently wash your face, avoiding the lip region.

For ten days, stay away from things that could moisten your lips, like hot soup and coffee. Through a straw, consume everything until your lips start to peel.

DO NOT extend your lips. Steer clear of biting into big sandwiches, etc. Eat food in bite-sized pieces.

Avoid biting into foods that are greasy, oily, salty, or spicy; instead, cut them up and put them in your mouth.

Avoid licking or constantly wiping your lips with a napkin while eating as this will slow the healing process. If you pick at dry, healing tissue, the pigment will be lost.

For the first seven days, avoid applying water to the newly pigmented areas as much as possible. (When bathing, washing your face, etc., apply ointment to the pigmented area to keep water off your lips.) When taking a shower, avoid standing in front of the showerhead.

To prevent bacterial illness, refrain from batching and swimming underwater for at least 4 weeks.

Lips should first be sealed with ointment before cleaning your teeth. To prevent the toothbrush from rubbing against the lips, use cotton balls in the gum region. Absence of whitening toothpaste (during the healing process). Just a little toothpaste should be used. Bring a straw with you when you go to the restroom so you can get water to swish with. While your lips are mending, avoid bleaching or whitening your teeth (about 2 weeks).

For the first 48 hours, you may use an ice pack (which must be covered with a moist barrier sheet of paper towelling, towel, or cloth). If desired, apply ice about every hour. Do not immediately apply ice to the region.

For a period of four weeks, avoid exposing your lips to the sun or tanning booths. This skin is young and susceptible to sunburn. Exposure to the sun too early may result in scarring and a change in the colour of the pigment.

After 10 days, you may use lipstick, lipgloss, and chapstick; just make sure the tube is brand-new.

Slightly elevating your bed while you sleep helps reduce puffiness. It is advised to use a satin pillowcase and lay on your back while you sleep. If your pillowcase is not satin, another option is to wrap it at night and then change it with a new wrap in the morning. This prevents nighttime pigment from adhering to the pillowcase.

When your lips are healed, stop smoking (10 days minimum).

After 10 days, avoid touching, rubbing, or friction on your freshly tattooed lips to prevent colour loss.

Depending on the body’s response, lips may be dry for three to six months.

A modest amount of edoema is typical one to three days after the surgery. The lips could feel thick after scabbling. After the first five days, lips will diminish by up to 50%. The tattoo will seem spotty while it is healing. This is a result of skin healing and renewal. To attain the correct density and form, certain New Clients may need extra sessions (at a fee).

How fast or slowly you recover will depend on the pre- and post-care for lips described above. mature age, a bad diet, stress, smoking, drinking too much alcohol, overall ill health, and sleep/fatigue. Your immune system is compromised and more susceptible to get infected as your level of weariness increases. Please get plenty of rest and hydrate well before the surgery by drinking plenty of water.
